Carl Friis brings more than 35 years of construction and development expertise to RMS Project Management. His extensive background spans residential, commercial, mixed-use, and advanced technical environments, making him one of the firm’s most versatile and experienced senior project leaders. Before joining RMSPM, Carl most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Midtown Builders, where he oversaw companywide operations and complex development initiatives.

As the leader of RMSPM’s Northwest operations, Carl oversees projects across Northern California, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington from the firm’s San Francisco office. His project experience is exceptionally broad, ranging from single-family homes and residential remodels to multi-family developments, car dealerships, retail centers, mixed-use environments, and specialized laboratory renovations. This diversity has equipped him with a deep understanding of construction methodologies, stakeholder coordination, and project risk management across multiple market sectors.

Prior to his role with RMSPM, Carl successfully owned and operated a general contracting firm in the greater Seattle area for more than 20 years. His hands-on leadership, operational insight, and technical proficiency allowed him to build a reputation for delivering well-coordinated, high-quality construction projects. Carl is known for his ability to anticipate challenges early, identify potential risks before they escalate, and coordinate proactively with design teams, contractors, and trade partners to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.

RMSPM leverages Carl’s depth of knowledge to mitigate schedule and cost impacts before they occur, ensuring that clients benefit from strategic foresight, disciplined oversight, and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Most recently, Carl played a key role in managing the completion of a $95 million student housing development adjacent to the University of Washington campus. Serving a Texas-based ownership group, RMSPM was selected to act as the Owner’s Representative, and Carl’s leadership was pivotal in driving the project to successful closeout.
